The P-1 visa is a temporary visa issued for one to five years and requires a sponsor employer. To qualify for a P-1 visa, you must be a professional athlete, amateur athlete, a member of an internationally recognized athletic team, or an internationally recognized individual athlete. The governing body for the sport you engage in, typically US Equestrian, must also issue a letter of “no objection.”
